Police: The End of The Police Debating Directive

Written by RSS Poster James Patrick

I didn't know how to bring this to a close.

But now I do.

"Yet each man kills the thing he loves

By each let this be heard,
Some do it with a bitter look,
Some with a flattering word,
The coward does it with a kiss,
The brave man with a sword!

Some kill their love when they are young,
And some when they are old;
Some strangle with the hands of Lust,
Some with the hands of Gold:
The kindest use a knife, because
The dead so soon grow cold.
Some love too little, some too long,
Some sell, and others buy;
Some do the deed with many tears,
And some without a sigh:
For each man kills the thing he loves,
Yet each man does not die.
He does not die a death of shame
On a day of dark disgrace,
Nor have a noose about his neck,
Nor a cloth upon his face,
Nor drop feet foremost through the floor
Into an empty space."
- Oscar Wilde.

What a ride. Thanks for coming along.

As for me...I have some dangerous ideas on my mind.

Police: The Trail of Breadcrumbs

Written by RSS Poster James Patrick
Everything that has come so far was written on a mobile phone.

My thumbs are sore and my eyes are strained, so, having compiled, written additions for and published The Rest Is Silence in a week, I have decided to try a laptop.

For me it was important to create a permanent record of everything that has happened over the last six months and; to do it before the Winsor 2 reform decision is made at the Police Arbitration Tribunal on the 18th of October. I also wanted to try and do something good for Care of Police Survivors.

I hoped to get to £1,000 with all of the proceeds from the book and there are still two weeks until the 31st of October, so if you can help, before we begin on a new adventure, the links are here:

Now though; time to assume "the Hansel and Gretel" and follow a trail of breadcrumbs...

Alphonse Gabriel "Al" Capone (January 17, 1899 – January 25, 1947) was an American gangster who led a Prohibition-era crime syndicate. The Chicago Outfit, which...

Police: The Acceptance of Fate

Written by RSS Poster James Patrick
Marcus Aelius Aurelius Verus Caesar was born on the 26th of April 121.

His stoic tome Meditations, was written in Greek, while on campaign, between 170 and 180.

It is still revered as a literary monument, to a philosophy of service and duty; describing how to find and preserve equanimity, in the midst of conflict, by following nature as a source of guidance and inspiration.

He is regarded as the last of "the five good emperors", a phrase coined by the political philosopher Niccolò Machiavelli in 1503.

"From the study of this history we may also learn how a good government is to be established; for while all the emperors who succeeded to the throne by birth, except Titus, were bad, all were good who succeeded by adoption, as in the case of the five from Nerva to Marcus.

But as soon as the empire fell once more to the heirs by birth, its ruin recommenced"...

Police: Open email to Nick Herbert: 03/07/12

Written by RSS Poster James Patrick

I note you have still not replied to my previous emails, but please thank Mr Cudmore for his courtesy.

Unfortunately, it seems, you have busied yourself with television appearances; spinning frantically as the penny drops in the media, that police numbers are dropping substantially.

I say unfortunately because you appear to be pursuing a somewhat bizarre view that all is rosy in the garden. I don't know where you got those tinted spectacles but clearly you should have gone to Specsavers.

Now, you may notice a 'tone' to this email and you may not like it, but this is just the verbal escalation scale.

You have failed to listen, so many times now, that you must be made to face the truth and; it often is my job to tell people things that they do not want to hear.

In short, I would like a word with you.

As ever, I am acutely aware of your temper and your requests that tweeting police officers be silenced but, try to remain calm, rational and listen; genuinely listen.

Firstly, let's talk about drops in numbers and no, you can't use...
