ON Sunday, May 7, a young girl had a morning to remember thanks to White Watch firefighters at Manchester Central Community Fire Station.
Sofia O’Brien visited the Thompson Street station with her mum, Gemma, after getting in touch with Watch Manager Tom Weate, and became a firefighter for the day.
Following the visit Sofia’s mum took to Facebook to share photos from the day and expressed her thanks.
Gemma said: “Sofia had such a special morning being a firefighter with Manchester Central firefighters – they were amazing and the day was planned beautifully.
“She thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. Special thanks to Tom Weate for organising it for her.”
Watch Manager Tom Weate said: “Good to have a brave little visitor at Manchester Central, a brave little girl called Sofia who has a severe liver dysfunction.
“This little girl is strong beyond belief and has to have a very painful injection every four weeks to balance out the acids in her blood because her liver doesn’t do the job.
“I’m glad she enjoyed being an honorary firefighter for the day.”
Sofia’s mum is taking part in the Manchester 10k on Sunday, May 28, raising funds for Children’s Liver Disease Foundation (CLDF).
